Nutrition Services

Nutrition Australia ACT services are especially tailored for community organisation's staff and clients.
Taking into account the varying nutritional needs of different groups for people in the community, our services focus on:
  • empowering staff with nutrition and food safety knowledge
  • supporting individuals to build skills and confirdence in preparing healthy food
  • motivating healthy eating practices

 

Nutrition and Food Handling Session

This two hour session is designed for staff who help to shop and cook meals for their clients.

A dietitian will visit your facility and present the nutrition and food handling session for up to 25 people. 

Topics covered in the course include:

  • Meeting the Australian Dietary Guidelines
  • Making healthy choices
  • Food hygiene
  • Safe food handling practices
Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

Project Dinnertime Cooking Workshops

Designed to get more people cooking more often, Project Dinnertime aims to inspire people to cook, eat and enjoy good food every day.

These interactive two hour workshops giev participants the opportunity to develop skills in food prepartaion, recipe selection, meal planning and food budgeting.

Session content and recipes are tailored accoridng to participants needs.

All cooking workshops include a two course meal and are held in the Nutrition Australia Food Skills kitchen, Chifley Health Hub.

Staff Wellbeing Sessions

Health community workers are more likely to look after themselves and prtray healthy messages to their family and clients.

Our one hour nutrition presentations are designed to motivate and inspire staff yo make healthy food choices for themselves.

Topics include:

  • How to boost your energy
  • 9 steps to healthy eating
  • Food choices: What the labels tell us
  • Food myths
  • Meal planning and healthy eating on a budget

Community Nutrition Group Seminars

This one hour nutrition preentation aims at empowering individuals to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.

Topics can focus on general healthy eating principles, meal planning, budgeting or reading food labels.

Healthy fact sheets are provided to all participants.

Cooking demonstrations

These demonstrations run for 1 - 1 1/2 hours, including taste testing time (up to 20 people).

Includes information on healthy meal planning and quick and easy meal ideas.

All participants receive fact sheets and recipes to take home.
